The JJMF Stretcher Race 2016

The Annual Stretcher Race in Memory of The Fallen

Pte Jeff ‘JJ’ Doherty, or ‘Doc’ as he was known to his brothers/colleagues in 2nd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, was killed in an ambush in Afghanistan on 12th June 2008, just two days after his 20th birthday. Every year, paratroopers, family members and friends run a two-mile stretcher race in JJ’s memory.

This year’s Stretcher Race is going to be hosted by The Bowling Green, Southam, on Saturday, 11th June 2016. The Bowling Green is a great family pub in Southam, JJ’s home town. So, what’s on during the day to enjoy?

Family Fun Day

This year, we will be having a Family Fun Day starting from 12pm. Food will be being served all day, with a BBQ from 5pm. Come along and have fun on the bouncy castle, browse the stalls, get your face painted, have a few drinks with us and enjoy some live music and the great community atmosphere.

The Stretcher Race

The Stretcher Race will start at 5pm, so make sure you are there to cheer everyone on!

The Red Devils jumping in to Southam Rec

The Red Devils Parachute Display Team are jumping in to Southam Rec again this year at 7pm in memory of JJ and the fallen. This is such a marvellous spectacle for the whole family to enjoy, and if you come up to The Bowling Green afterwards, you can meet the Red Devils too!

Live Music and DJ

This year we have live music from Matty Rock ‘n’ Coles, and there will also be a DJ later on.
